We are delighted to welcome two new members of staff to HART this academic year. Dr Nikolas Dickerson has joined the School of Sport & Exercise as Lecturer in the Sociology of Sport, and has a range of research interests, including his current project on Constructing the Digitalized Sporting Body: Black and White Masculinity in NBA/ NHL Internet Memes. He is particularly interested in how sporting spaces are symbolically constructed in regards to race, gender, and nation.
Dr Claire Markham joins HART as a postdoctoral Research Fellow working on Dr Jacquelyn Allen-Collinson’s funded research project on local healthy food in Lincolnshire, and has research interests cohering around rural communities, rural pubs, rural idylls, and the use of grounded theory. She is particularly interested in the social and cultural value produced and consumed by rural services, and the impact of this on sustaining rural communities.
